Fiber Optics Training, Maintenance and Testing (40 hours) – The world is switching from cable to fiber optics to provide high quality and fast connection to the Internet. The Urban League is proud to provide students an opportunity to learn the skills of the trade. Fiber Optic students will learn the varying types of fiber cabling, how to make and repair connections, install, troubleshoot, and maintain systems. The hands-on training includes measuring signal strength, understanding testing standards, equipment and technological approaches used in testing and splicing. Students explore the overall spectrum of testing and maintenance of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optics networks and learn about the various pieces of equipment. This course is $40.
